Birth - 12months (Infant Carriers)

Anyone who has experience with a newborn will be aware of how poor the neck muscles of the infant are in those first few weeks and months. As baby grows and becomes stronger he/she is able to become more independent, but in those first few months it is incredibly important to support your baby's neck and muscles, this is why all our seats feature padding to provide extra head support.

When looking for a car seat there is a whole myriad of options available for infants. My Crib Rocks offer a range of Group 0 car seats from different brands, all of whom are car seat specialists, testing their seats far more thoroughly than required by current UK standards. We only sell seats that undergo the highest possible testing, including at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour, in rolls, bends and even when placed on the roof of the car.

Research has shown that rear facing seats are more effective and provide better protection to babies and infants, as they minimise neck injuries and internal injuries. For the first few months of a baby's life, the head represents a large part of the total body weight as it grows and develops so quickly and it is vital that it is protected when travelling in a car. Rear facing seats are ideal for a baby up to 13kg in weight (one year of age) but recent research carried out suggests that in the event of an accident, a rear facing seat actually provides better protection for infants up to the age of four.

My Crib Rocks sell rear facing seats from brands such as Britax, Stokke, Cybex, Emmaljunga and Oyster. This year we have also added a selection of Orbit car seats to our range; these seats are I-Size ready and suitable from birth - 18 months. All our seats are either fitted using the seatbelt or secured with an ISOFIX base, which eliminates human error. To simplify taking baby in and out of the car, our infant carriers can also attach to the frame of a pram, becoming a travel system. Please come into the shop to see the full range.
